The other day, I realized that I’ve been hearing a lot lately about what it means to be a “real man”. This has been on T.V., in magazines and in conversation. People say things like, “It’s what real men drink.”, “Real men grow beards.” or “Be a real man”.
A lot of concern goes toward the many false images and impossible expectations that the media sends to women, but I feel for my brothers in Christ. Not being a guy, I guess I don’t get to have a real, solid opinion on what it means to be a “real man”.
But if I could say what I think, I would tell you that the guys I consider to be “real men” are in that category not based on appearance or tone of voice, who they know or what they drink. They are men of compassion, honesty and humility. They love the Lord deeply and are not ashamed of it. They fight for Truth and justice with integrity. Those who are married, they love their wives wholeheartedly. These men genuinely care for those in need and are hard workers. So, for what it’s worth, that’s this girl’s opinion on the makings of a “real man”.
