I don’t know who you are, but chances are, if you’re reading this, then I can honestly say I’ve prayed this for you. This what I’m asking for you this Thanksgiving week.
Make them set apart even in regular, walking-around life for the daily work of liberation and love, proclaiming the Gospel with hands and with voice to every soul in their influence. May their soul long for prayer and for the word, may they keep secrets, may they be generous in money and in love, may they sit in silence outside under Your sky and be satisfied. May they be the voice of knowledge tempered with grace and wisdom. May they make room in life to be inconvenienced and put-out, to be Grace personified to image bearers of all kinds. May they be fearless and discerning.
I pray, Lord Jesus, that they will walk in knowledge of the sacredness and purpose of their calling. I pray for dreams and for vision, for the active leading of Your Holy Spirit, and I pray that they would never ever ever forget how very, very fond of them You are.
I pray for perseverance and for obedience motivated by love. I pray for speech seasoned with truth and goodness. I pray that when they are tired and discouraged and feeling futile..small..or ridiculous, I pray that You be their motivation to never, never, never give up.
We love You.
In the name of your son, Jesus…Amen.
There you have it. So, whether you’re surrounded by some whacky family members or lots of longing hungry souls, or if you open your eyes to find yourself at work or at the pulpit of a church or in your kitchen, if you’ve been given a voice for many or for one precious soul, you’ve been placed for an eternal reason. You belong there. And….I’ve got great news! He, the Creator and Sustainer of your universe, is right there too. So friend, be there with Him.
